Nunavut

Nunavut, Canada’s newest territory (established in 1999), occupies much of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago and northern mainland. Its capital is Iqaluit, located on Baffin Island. According to the 2021 Census, Nunavut’s population was 36,858, representing ~2.5 % growth since 2016. Nunavut has the highest proportion of Indigenous (Inuit) residents in the country, and its economy is largely oriented around public services, resource exploration, and northern infrastructure challenges.
